4000EG-series Electric Directional Gyroscopes The 4000EG is the electrical counterpart of our industry standard 4000B air-driven directional gyro. It contains all of the same mechanisms differing only in the rotor’s power source. The rotor is machined from a tungsten alloy, which has a higher mass than brass. The rotor is turned by an electric motor at higher rotational speeds than our air-driven models giving it a higher angular momentum, resulting in added stability. The instrument comes in 14 or 28-volt models, and future models will include heading bugs, autopilot pickoffs, and bootstrap output signals. |
